"Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic. "
OK- kind of a goofy song, and who knows what it really means, but color is such an important part of what we do every day- it can make us feel happy or sad, the difference in light can make a day dreary or lively, it influences us whether we are paying attention or not! I was getting ready to make a kind of blue/ aqua deep sea creature pendant, and then I looked at the colors that were already on the table and saw how lovely they looked together, thought of the prompt for this week and went off on a bit of a tangent. So here you go!

Seek the strongest color effect possible.. the content is of no importance.

I thought of glass rods too... but decided that I've done that too many times before... and that would have required hours of cleaning! Moving your studio every 8 months does have it's advantages! Great colours in those beads remind me of shells!
ReplyDeleteAhh the rainbow connection song, been so long since I heard it! amazing colors in the pendant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors in your bead!! Love your quote from Matisse!!
ReplyDeletewhat beautiful work! it's funny to read that song without Kermit's voice delivering it. It seems to change the meaning somehow, but I like it. It is a darker side of Kermit! And I LOVE that quote from Matisse!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the poem by Kermit!
Thanks for all the great comments! You're right, Antiquity, it is kind of the darker side of Kermit- the words to that song are downright weird, and I left off the third verse which is the strangest by far! Just couldn't resist the link!
